Agawan Diner - Rowley MA

The Agawam Diner seems to always have a line, so the food is loved by many. It is somewhat of local tourist attraction, especially during the summer months. It is a 1954 Fodero diner.

Located at the intersection of US1 and RT 133 in Rowley, MA

Chelsea Royal Diner - West Brattleboro VT

Along RT 9 just outside of Brattleboro sits the Chelsea Royal Diner. It is a 1939 Worcester Lunch Car Co diner. My first meal was eggs and hash, which became the standard for me to comparte one diner to another. Meatloaf became a standard test item. I sat at the counter just as you enter the side doorway. The actual diner has become an extension to the restaurant and is used for seating only, however the original exhaust hood remains hanging from the wall.

Located at 487 Marlboro Rd (RT9) in West Brattleboro, VT

Boulevard Diner - Worcester MA

The Boulevard Diner is open 24 hours a day, every day except one. Which one I don't remember, but it is something like Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving Eve. It has an Italian flair to its food. One of the waitresses is quite old and has worked there for eva. She was a hotty in her prime, at least in this beholder's eye. The Boulevard has always had a good amount of dining peeps and might be a favorite for the Worcester Police. Just an impression I have. This diner has it all, the diner itself, the atmosphere of being a local friendly place to eat, and the food, while not stupendous is certainly good.

The Boulevard is located at 155 Shrewsbury St in Worcester, MA. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Blue Moon Diner - Gardner MA

I had breakfast at the Blue Moon Diner with a friend of mine before we went out riding. Recolloction is I had eggs and hash and also remember there were 2 choices on the type of homemade hash to be had. What is memorable about this day, is my friend went down in Whately MA later in the day. He is all right today and still riding. The place was crowded and I sat at the end of the counter, closest to the door.

The Blue Moon Diner is Worcester Lunch Car Co. diner. It is located 102 Main St in Gardner, MA

Aero Diner - Windham CT

The Aero is one of my favorite places. They have a great reuben sandwich. This diner was moved to it's present location and restored by the then owner. I remember having a bite there and there were peeps interested in buying the place.

The Aero was manufactured by Bramson Engineering out of Oyster Bay, NY. It is one of two manufactured by this company. The Aero is located at 361 Boston Post Rd., North Windham, CT 06256

Chief Martindale Diner - Craryville NY

To the best of my recollection this was the very first diner I visited. It is a Silk City diner #5807. I bought a T-Shirt from them, which was also the first T-Shirt as well.

This was one of the first long trips I took (well at least I thought it was along trip) all the way to the Taconic Highway in New York (lots of tongue in cheek). I had the meatloaf special with mash potatoes and green beans. The place was not particularly busy, the food was just ok, the price was very good, and the parking lot was the pits. Essentially chopped up pavement and gravel.

Located at N42 12.494 W73 38.075 or 1000 New York 23, Craryville, NY

The sign, although a bit rusty, is really neat.

I went through my photos and realized I don't have a good picture of this diner. It was right around this time that I got my first digital camera. Go figa. Guess we will have to go back out there.

Whats this all About - The Chase for the Diner

Grub, Garbage and Gunk is a new blog for me. It is to highlight those joints we call Diners that I have visited. What do I expect from this blog, really nothing. There are much better places on the Web that document and review places like this. I just have a thing about Diners and have a really hard time passing them by. I may even throw in a BBQ joint or two, too. For those places I have had a bite, I will throw in my .02 on the food, what my experience was like and anything else I feel like saying.

This chasin down Diners all started with a now defunct on line motorcycle community called The Diner. Someone threw up a contest on who could ride their bike to the most diners. I blew the competition away and then the Chase was on for other stuff, National Parks, Landmarks, National Grand Tours, etc etc. But for the most part I still stop and take pictures of Diners, run in and see if they have a cup with their name on it to buy or maybe even a T-Shirt. I have a closet full of them and I am too scared to wear most of them because mustard seems to permanently stain. If it is around a meal time MeAsWe and I look for these places to stop at for a meal. I just really love Diners.

So enjoy and come along for the grub and ride.
